       கடலூர் அரசு தலைமை மருத்துவமனைக்கு நோயாளிகளின் வருகை நாளுக்கு நாள் அதிகரித்து வருவதால் ஏற்படும் நிர்வாக சிக்கலைத் தவிர்க்க கம்ப்யூட்டர் மயமாக்கப்பட்டு வருகிறது. முதல் கட்டமாக புறநோயாளிகள் விவரம் நேற்று முதல் கம்ப்யூட்டரில் பதிவு செய்யும் பணி துங்கியது.

      கடலூரில் உள்ள மாவட்ட தலைமை அரசு மருத்துவமனையில் மாவட்டத்தின் பல்வேறு பகுதிகளில் இருந்து தினமும் 4,000 பேர் புறநோயாளிகளாகவும், 2,000 பேர் உள்நோயாளிகளாகவும் சிகிச்சை பெற்று வருகின்றனர். நாளுக்கு நாள் நோயாளிகளின் வருகை அதிகரித்து வருவதைத் தொடர்ந்து மருத்துவமனை தொடர்ந்து விரிவாக்கப்பட்டு வருகிறது. மேலும், நோயாளிகளின் விவரங்கள் மற்றும் அவர்களுக்கு அளித்த சிகிச்சை குறிப்புகள் அடங்கிய பதிவேடுகளை பராமரிப்பதிலும், நோயாளிகளுக்கு வழங்கப்படும் மருந்து மற்றும் மாத்திரைகளுக்கான டோக்கன்களை பதிவு செய்வதில் நிர்வாக ரீதியாக சிக்கல் நிலவி வந்தது. இதனைத் தவிர்க்கும் பொருட்டு மாவட்ட தலைமை மருத்துவமனை நிர்வாகத்தை முழுமையாக கம்ப்யூட்டர் மையமாக்க அரசு உத்தரவிட்டு அதற்கான பூர்வாங்கப் பணி நடந்து வருகிறது.

           இதற்காக தகவல் தொழில் நுட்ப பட்டதாரி பிரகாஷ் என்பவர் ஒருங்கிணைப்பாளராக நியமிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளார். முதல் கட்டமாக கடலூர் அரசு மருத்துவமனை ஊழியர்களுக்கு கம்ப்யூட்டர் இயக்குவது, அதில் நோயாளிகளின் விவரங்களை பதிவு செய்வது குறித்து சென்னை டி.சி.எஸ்., நிறுவனத்தை சேர்ந்த தொழில்நுட்ப ஊழியர்கள் கடந்த வாரம் பயிற்சி கொடுத்தனர். அதனைத் தொடர்ந்து தற்போது புறநோயாளிகளுக்கு சீட் வழங்குவதை கம்ப்யூட்டரில் பதிவு செய்யும் முறை நேற்று முதல் அமல்படுத்தப்பட்டது. புறநோயாளியின் முகவரி மற்றும் அவரது நோய் பற்றிய விவரங்களை பதிவு செய்ததும், நோயாளிக்கு 10 இலக்க எண் கொண்ட பிரத்யேக டோக்கன் கொடுக்கப்படும். அந்த டோக்கனைக் கொண்டு சம்மந்தப்பட்ட டாக்டரிடம் அணுக வேண்டும். அவர் நோயாளியை பரிசோதித்து அவருக்கு அளிக்கும் சிகிச்சை மற்றும் அவருக்கு அளிக்க வேண்டிய மருந்து, மாத்திரை மற்றும் ஊசி விவரங்களை கம்ப்யூட்டரில் பதிவு செய்து விடுவார்.

         அதன்பிறகு நோயாளி தனது டோக்கனை கொண்டு சென்று, மருந்தக பிரிவிற்கு கொண்டு சென்றதும், கம்ப்யூட்டரில் பார்த்து அவருக்குரிய மருந்து மாத்திரைகளை வழங்குவார். நோயாளி இந்த டோக்கனை பத்திரமாக வைத்துக் கொள்ள வேண்டும். மறுமுறை மருத்துவமனைக்கு வரும் போது நேரடியாக டாக்டரிடம் சென்று டோக்கனை காண்பித்து சிகிச்சை பெற்றுக் கொள்ளலாம். இதேப்போன்று அனைத்து அரசு மருத்துவமனைகளும் கம்ப்யூட்டர் மையமாக்கப்பட்டு வருவதால், இதே டோக்கனைக் கொண்டு தமிழகத்தில் உள்ள எந்த அரசு மருத்துவமனைக்கும் சென்றும் சிகிச்சை பெற்றுக் கொள்ளலாம். மேலும், நோயாளி இதுவரை மேற்கொண்ட சிகிச்சை விவரங்கள் கம்ப்யூட்டரில் பதிவு செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளதால், தொடர் சிகிச்சை பெறுவதற்கும் வசதியாக இருக்கும்.

Chemplast Sanmar’s Providing Medical Assistance Where It Is Needed Most in Cuddalore District

The centres are located at Veeranur, Mottur, Thangamapuripattinam and Kunjandiyur. Chemplast provides free medical consultation and medicines to people in these camps. These healthcare centers help in medical diagnosis on a regular basis and supply free medicines to community members.  Chemplast Sanmar has enlisted the services of experienced doctors who have a passion for community service.            In addition to regular health centres, the company also organises medical camps with specialist treatment facilities. The most recent medical camp in Mettur was conducted in partnership with the Chettinad Hospital. The medical camp screened 1,250 people from villages such as Thangamapuripattinam, Ramamurthy Nagar, Thengalvarai and Kavipuram around Mettur. Move to expand green cover says, Cuddalore Collector V. Amuthavalli

CUDDALORE: 

       Collector V. Amuthavalli has fixed a target of planting as many as two lakh saplings across the district before August 15.

        She said this after planting a sapling at the Cuddalore headquarters government hospital here on Tuesday. Ms. Amuthavalli told presspersons that in a bid to expand greenery across the district, employees of the Revenue Department, Education Department and the district rural development agency, school and college students, and, private organisations would be involved.

         Ms. Amuthavalli said that a total of 200 saplings were planted at the government hospital on Tuesday under the aegis of the Green Cross Society. She entrusted the responsibility of taking care of the saplings to employees of the hospital. She said that the surgical unit in the hospital would be renovated at a cost of Rs. 13 lakh and the expenditure would be met by the Chemplast Sanmar Ltd. here.

           Later, Ms. Amuthavalli inspected various wings of the hospital, including the labour ward, paediatric wards, surgical wings and dialysis unit. She also inspected the intensive care unit for children. She said that she would carry out surprise checks at government hospitals to ascertain their functionality and cleanliness. Four killed in accident near Cuddalore-Chidambaram road

         Four people were killed and 11 others injured when the van in which they were travelling dashed against a roadside tree and overturned near Alapakkam railway gate on the Cuddalore-Chidambaram road in last night.

         Police said a group of 20 people from Keezhpoovani Kuppam village were proceeding to attend a house-warming ceremony at Vazhutalampattu village when the incident occurred. When the vehicle neared the Alapakkam railway gate, the van driver lost control and rammed the vehicle into a tamarind tree.

        In the impact, the vehicle overturned, crushing three people -- Suresh, Moorthy and Ilamtherian -- to death on the spot. Twelve people who had sustained injuries were admitted to Cuddalore Government Hospital. One of them Thavamani died while he was being shifted to a Puducherry hospital for treatment.

Sexual abuse of seven-year-girl alleged near Vriddhachalam

CUDDALORE: 

          A seven-year-old girl, who was allegedly subjected to sexual abuse on Wednesday at Nallur in Vriddhachalam taluk, has been admitted to the Cuddalore Government Headquarters Hospital here for treatment.

          Police have arrested 49-year-old S. Selvarasu in this connection, Superintendent of Police Ashwin Kotnis said. The victim's father Venkatesan (38), a daily wage labourer and native of Athanur in Uludurpet taluk, said that his daughter looked dazed and deeply traumatised.

            Mr. Venkatesan, along which his daughter, had gone to his in-laws' place at Nallur to participate in a local festival. When his daughter was playing with the girls in the neighbourhood, Selvarasu accosted her and offered some small coins. He also promised to give more money if she accompanied him to his house. However, after a while the girl came home crying complaining of physical injuries and pain. Mr. Venkatesan lodged a complaint with the Vepur police and admitted his daughter to the Vriddhachalam Government Hospital. She was later referred to the Cuddalore hospital. Hospital sources said laboratory reports are awaited.

Acid leak: villagers can return home, says official

CUDDALORE: 

             The environs of the Shasun Pharmaceuticals Ltd, located on the premises of the SIPCOT Industrial Estate here, have been cleared of toxic fumes.

           Hence, the villagers can return home and resume their regular chores, according to V.Thangaraj, Deputy Chief Inspector of Factories. Joint Director (Health) Kamalakannan told The Hindu that of the 155 people admitted in the Cuddalore Headquarters Hospitals on the complaints of burning eyes, breathing problem and itching of the skin caused by the dense fumes emanating from an acid-leak in the unit on the night of March 7, only nine were still undergoing treatment. With the help of modern gadgets, the concentration of fumes that remained at 58—60 mg per metric cube soon after the leak, was nullified within 12 hours.

Attack on colony residents a planned one: Samuga Samathuva Padai P.Sivagami

CUDDALORE: 

          Founder of the Samuga Samathuva Padai P.Sivagami, a former IAS officer, called on the victims of the recent community clash recuperating in the Cuddalore Headquarters Government Hospital here on Monday.

          She also visited the Kambalimedu colony to console the residents. She said that the government announced compensation of Rs 1.50 lakh to the family of A.Subramanian, who was murdered in the clash, was inadequate. Subramanian was survived by wife and six children, including five daughters and a son. Hence, the right amount of compensation was to invest Rs 5 lakh in the name of each of the children to take care of their educational requirements, she said.

           She sought a compensation of Rs 1 lakh each to the 20 persons injured in the incident. Stating that only a particular community was singled out, she viewed it as a pre-planned attack carried out with the obvious intention of establishing the authority of one community over the oppressed classes so as to derive political mileage. When she visited the Kambalimedu colony the residents told her that fearing physical harm, they did not send their children to school on Monday because they would have to pass through the streets of the other community. Moreover, the police also did not give them any assurance on safety to school students.

Student falls sick, dies in a private school in Manjakuppam

CUDDALORE: 

         A. Joy Alwin Bose (12), hailing from Thirunavalur in Villupuram district and studying in Class VI in a private school in Manjakuppam here, fell sick in the classroom on Monday morning.

        Since, he was staying in the hostel the school management arranged for his admission in a private hospital where he breathed his last. The body was taken to the government hospital for post-mortem. The police sources said that only after the post-mortem report was obtained, the cause of death would be known.

Pat for healthcare system

CUDDALORE: 

          Union Health Secretary K. Chandramouli has commended the healthcare delivery system in government hospitals in Tamil Nadu.

       For instance, the infant mortality rate and the maternal mortality rate in Tamil Nadu are lesser than the national average. The Tamil Nadu practice in this regard deserved to be replicated in other States, he said.

         Mr. Chandramouli made a surprise visit to the Cuddalore Headquarters' Government Hospital here on Saturday and attended a workshop on the process of getting accreditation for government hospitals. He said that in terms of human indicators and health aspects certain government hospitals in Tamil Nadu were performing well, meeting the parameters set by the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Health Providers.

           It was heartening to note that the government hospitals in Namakkal and Sholingar had got the accreditation and the medical fraternity in other government hospitals too was keen on getting the certification soon. Though a beginning had been made in this regard, a long distance ought to be covered, he said.

          It should be the endeavour of all government hospitals to ensure minimum standards in healthcare and ultimately what mattered was the patient's satisfaction and appreciation, which would be the real certification for the hospitals. Later, addressing a press conference, Mr. Chandramouli said that whenever any issues cropped up in getting accreditation, the Centre would render necessary assistance to resolve them.

           S. Vijayakumar, Special Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department, and also Project Director, Tamil Nadu Health Systems Project, said that of the 12 government hospitals that were preparing themselves for accreditation the ones in Namakkal and Sholingar had already obtained the certification. He exuded confidence that by September 2011 seven more government hospitals, including those at Cuddalore, Hosur, Tambaram, Aruppukottai and Padmanabapuram, would qualify for accreditation.

Official found hanging

CUDDALORE: 

              An official of Sugarcane Research Station, situated at Semmandalam here, was found hanging at his quarters on Wednesday.

              Police sources said that Raghunathan (42), a native of Vadakkal Pakkam in Tiruvannamalai district and serving as Assistant Agriculture Officer in the research station, was depressed for quite sometime. He was said to be addicted to liquor and in the habit of speaking incoherently. When he did not turn up for duty on Wednesday morning, an employee went to his quarters found the door locked from inside. When he looked in through the window, he saw Raghunathan hanging from the ceiling. On receiving information, police went to the spot, broke open the door and sent the body to the Government Hospital for post-mortem.

A (H1N1) Vaccination drive begins at Cuddalore District

CUDDALORE: 

         Collector P. Seetharaman inaugurated a drive to administer A (H1N1) vaccines to the public, at the Cuddalore Government Headquarters Hospital here on Saturday.

           Joint Director in-charge (health services) Kamalakannan, Medical Superintendent Ramachandran and Deputy Director R. Meera were present. Dr. Meera told reporters that two types of vaccines were available at the hospital – nasovax, which would be applied through nasal cavities and vaxiflu, an intramuscular injection. While the drops were recommended for those above three years of age, the injection was recommended for those above 18 years.

               However, the vaccines were not recommended for those below three years of age, those who were having allergy to egg and egg products, pregnant women and diabetics. The vaccines were available at prices lower than market rates, she said. The drops were being administered for Rs. 115 and the injection, Rs. 225. The hospital had adequate stock of the vaccines and the stocks would be replenished as per requirements, Dr. Meera said. The vaccines were safe and would not lead to any complication, she added. The Health Department was maintaining surveillance over the instances and monitoring the cases reported at the tertiary care centres.

           A fourteen-year-old inmate of an observation home at Kondur, reportedly died of rabies at the Government Hospital here on Monday. Police sources said that on Saturday, he fell sick and was treated for fever. Later, it was learnt that he was bitten by a dog two years ago.

Prison inmate injured in clash at Cuddalore

CUDDALORE: 

               A convict undergoing life imprisonment in the Cuddalore Central Prison was injured in a clash between another inmate on Saturday. He was taken to the Government Hospital for treatment. Police sources said that Nagarajan alias Raja (26) of Kurinjipadi, detained in connection with theft cases, and Uma Shankar (36) of Usilampatti, serving life sentence in a murder case, used to quarrel often in the cell. On Saturday evening, they picked a wordy duel which ended in fisticuffs injuring Uma Shankar severely.

Emergency ward in Cuddalore hospital gets a facelift

CUDDALORE: 

            Collector P. Seetharaman inaugurated the renovated emergency ward in the Cuddalore headquarters government hospital on Monday. The ward was redone with new flooring, windows, electrical fittings and life-saving oxygen and glucose connections at a cost of Rs.6 lakh. The Collector told the reporters that when he visited the hospital recently the emergency ward was in such a condition that would not instil confidence among the patients. Therefore, he directed the Executive Engineer of the Public Works Department (Buildings) K. Manoharan to take up the renovation works and based on the blueprint he had sanctioned a sum of Rs.6 lakh.

                The Collector further said that the emergency ward should be neat and clean so as to create a feeling among the patients that they were in a safe place. He noted that in the 25-bedded wing the emergency cases would be classified into three categories —critical, less critical and those who need regular attention —and accordingly treated. The X-Ray section, a dark room and a diagnostic section in the wing were also given a facelift so as to make it on par with the private hospitals. A specially designed toilet facility for the sake of the differently-abled persons too had been put up.

Air-conditioning:

                 The Chemplast Sanmar had donated three air-conditioning units to the emergency ward for which the Collector thanked the company. Those who participated on the occasion included District Revenue Officer S. Natarajan, Joint Director (Health) Jaya Veerakumar, Hospital Superintendent Paranjothi, Deputy Superintendent of Police S.S. Maheswaran, Resident Medical Officer Govindaraj and Chemplast Sanmar Chief Executive Officer Mohan.

New diet regimen to be introduced in government hospitals from June

CUDDALORE: 

             A new diet regimen will be introduced in all the government hospitals and medical colleges in the State from June. A pilot study has already been launched in this regard in the Cuddalore Headquarters Government Hospital from May 1, said Purushotham Vijayakumar, Additional Director, Rural Health Services (Medical).

              Addressing a press conference here on Friday Dr. Vijayakumar said that during the British Raj 150 types of mainly meat-based diet were in vogue in the hospitals but after Independence the number was greatly minimised and simplified, so as to include milk and bread. Hereafter, standardised diets would be served on the basis of the ordinary ailments, chronic afflictions and non-communicable diseases. It would include standard diet for HIV affected children, and, acute special diet for those having intestinal problems and diarrohoea. There would be salt free diet for the patients with kidney problems and special preparations for the cancer patients undergoing radium or chemo therapy. The health institutes in remote areas would be permitted to serve the locally available diets, Dr. Vijayakumar said.

               The new diet system would supplement the medicinal intake of patients for their speedy recovery. The hospitals would be adequately equipped to meet the requirements in this regard, he said. Dr. Vijayakumar further said that it had been proposed to get the National Board for Accreditation of Hospitals certification for 12 government hospitals.

Already the certification was obtained for the Namakkal and Sholingur hospitals. For this purpose the hospitals were being refurbished to improve their health care delivery on par with the corporate hospitals. This process might require streamlining the functioning of the hospitals and revamping the administrative set-up, he said. Memo to 30 employees Dr. Vijayakumar said that the Health Department had received a slew of complaints about extortion of money and lack of hygiene in the Cuddalore and Chidambaram government hospitals.

                Following the direction of Health Minister M.R.K. Panneerselvam to study the issues involved he led a nine-member team that conducted inspection in these hospitals on Thursday and Friday. He said memos had been issued to 30 employees seeking explanation for their lapses. Dr. Vijayakumar said that a budgetary allocation of Rs.21.21 crore had been made and 37 doctor posts had been sanctioned for the Cuddalore hospitals this year. Joint Director (Health) T. Government Hospitals to give ID numbers to patients

CUDDALORE: 

                Government Hospitals in the State are being equipped with computer systems to provide unique eight-digit identification numbers to patients, said P. Nandagopalasamy, Director, Medical Services and Family Welfare.

        Addressing a press conference at the Cuddalore Government Headquarters  Hospital here on Tuesday, Mr. Nandagopalasamy said that the Health Management Information System (HMIS) would create a database on case history of the patients. Just by quoting the ID numbers, the patients could undergo the laboratory tests required. The trial of the system in Government Hospitals at Padmanabapuram, Kolachal, Tambaram, Sholingar and Sriperumbudur proved to be a success. Hence, it had now been introduced at Pudukottai, Kanyakumari, Theni, Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri districts.

 

Accreditation

              Mr. Nandagopalasamy further said that 12 Government Hospitals across the State, including the one at Cuddalore, were equipping themselves to get accreditation from the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals. Once approved, the hospitals would have medical services and facilities of international standards. A private consultancy firm, “Acme,” had been engaged to prepare the hospitals for getting the accreditation. For improving sanitation in Cuddalore Government Hospital, a Rs.1.5-crore drainage project would be implemented by the Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board. A total of 13 sanitary workers would soon be appointed through the employment office. At least 100 more beds would be provided in the hospital.

                  Mr. Nandagopalasamy said that over the State 434 doctors would be appointed and 13 of them would be deployed in Cuddalore so as to take the total strength of doctors to 58. The efforts to get accreditation for the Cuddalore Government Hospital were set in motion about one-and-half years ago and it was likely that by September 2010 it would get the accreditation. In all, the district hospitals, super specialties would be introduced in a phased manner. Mr. Nandagopalasamy categorically said that there was no such thing as a “mysterious disease” but only a mutation of dengue or other viral fever.

             The blood smears of patients were being tested in the government laboratory at Hosur and in the Indian Council of Medical Research Laboratory at Madurai. It was not a death-causing disease and therefore there was no need for panic. He asserted that swine flu had been eradicated in the State and there was adequate stock of medicines to meet any eventuality.
