Additional kerosene for card-holders in flood-hit areas

CUDDALORE:

           Ration card-holders in flood-affected areas in Cuddalore district will get an additional supply of two litres of kerosene, according to Collector P. Seetharaman.

          In a statement released here on Thursday, he said that the district had been allotted 60 kilo-litres of kerosene for the purpose and the distribution would start soon. Mr. Seetharaman said that Deputy Collectors and officials of equivalent ranks had been put in charge of flood control measures in various places.

MLA T.Velmurugan seeks Rs 300 crore for relief in Cuddalore,

CUDDALORE: 

               Since the floods have caused extensive damage in Cuddalore, the State government should declare it a disaster-prone district and sanction an initial sum of Rs. 300 crore for relief works, T.Velmurugan, MLA and State joint general secretary of the PMK, told a press conference here on Thursday.

Two school student killed at Thirumanikuzhi

CUDDALORE: 

              Sivabalan (15), a school student, who had gone to watch the floods in the Gedilam at Thirumanikuzhi on Thursday, accidentally fell into the river and was washed away. Police and Fire personnel have launched a search. In another incident, 50-year-old Govindasamy fell into the Sengal Odai at Solatharam and drowned.
