Students should aim high: Director Cheran

         Have a vivid picture of what you want to be in your mind's eye and strive towards it with single-minded devotion. This is the formula for success prescribed by Tamil film director and actor Cheran.

        He was delivering a speech at the ‘Stepping stones' programme, a guidance session meant for Plus Two students organized by the Arunai College of Engineering, Tiruvannamalai, on the premises of St. Joseph's College here on Thursday.

         Mr Cheran said that the humiliations and failures suffered in the formative years propelled him to reach the heights of glory and his film career was a salient example in this regard. When he was denied admission for a function in the Valluvar Kottam in Chennai, he resolved to get felicitated in the same venue, and his movie ‘Bharathi Kannamma' fetched him the honour. He also harboured the ambition of getting a national award from the President and that too materialised. Above all, he desired to bring his parents joy and he was successful in that too.

            Therefore, Mr Cheran said that the students should aim high and spurn all kinds of diversions, which were aplenty, to attain their goals. Hard work would always bring its rewards, he said.

Life-long process

           Film lyricist N. Muthukumar said that the students should take to studies out of their own interest and not out of compulsion. Studying was a life-long process and should not to be confined only to school days or college days. Set aside some money for buying books of interest and make a provision for a book shelf in every household, he told the students.

           Mr Muthukumar further said that Tamil literature had the unique quality of energising the readers because it was close to life. Therefore, he called upon the students to cultivate the habit of perusing Tamil literary works.

       Professor K. Gnanasambandan, who has been a moderator for many a debate, said that when he started as an orator he felt dumbstruck and could not even remember his name. But he consciously made efforts to overcome the stage fear that won him accolades both in the country and abroad. Managing Director of Arunai College of Engineering E.V.Kamban, vice-president E.V.Kumaran, vice-president and Principal M. Arumugham also spoke.

Muslim Makkal Kazhagam's plea to Chief Minister

CUDDALORE: 

         The Muslim Makkal Kazhagam has appealed to Chief Minister M.Karunanidhi to extend the Kalaignar Housing Scheme to the economically weaker sections of the minority community.

          The Kazhagam, at its 11th anniversary function held here recently, adopted a resolution . It stated that the government proposal to make Tamil Nadu free from huts was a laudable objective. But, there was a need to expand the project to cover the nomadic tribes such as the Narikoravas and the hilly tribes, and also the people who had made platforms their domicile places.

        In another resolution, it thanked Mr. M.Karunanidhi and Deputy Chief Minister M.K.Stalin for having formed a separate welfare board for the ulemas and set apart 3.5 per cent reservation for the minority community. In yet another resolution, the Kazhagam resolved to support the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam in the coming Assembly elections. Founder-president of the Kazhagam S.S.Jainuddin participated.

கடலூரில் 166 வி.ஏ.ஓ. பணியிடங்கள் காலி: ஆட்சியர்

               கடலூர் மாவட்டத்தில் 166 கிராம நிர்வாக அலுவலர் பணியிடங்கள் காலியாக உள்ளது. இதனால் மாவட்ட நிர்வாக பணிகள் மேற்கொள்ள நெருக்கடி ஏற்பட்டுள்ளது என மாவட்ட ஆட்சியர் பெ.சீதாராமன் தெரிவித்தார்.  

              சிதம்பரம் அண்ணாமலைப் பல்கலைக்கழக வளாகத்தில் பல்கலைக்கழக எஸ்.சி., எஸ்.டி. தனிப்பிரிவு மற்றும் கடலூர் மாவட்ட தாட்கோ நிறுவனமும் இணைந்து எஸ்.சி., எஸ்.டி., மாணவர்களுக்கான டி.என்.பி.எஸ்.சி. கிராம நிர்வாக அலுவலர் தேர்வுக்கான ஒரு மாதகால ஆயத்த பயிற்சி முகாம் தொடக்க விழா புதன்கிழமை நடைபெற்றது.  

            விழாவில் பல்கலைக்கழக பதிப்புத்துறை சார்பில் கிராம நிர்வாக அலுவலர் தேர்வுக்கான நூலை துணைவேந்தர் எம்.ராநாதன் வெளியிட்ட அதன் முதல் பிரதியை ஆட்சியர் பெ.சீதாராமன் பெற்றுக் கொண்டார்.  

விழாவில் கடலூர் மாவட்ட ஆட்சியர் பெ.சீதாராமன் குத்துவிளக்கேற்றி முகாமை தொடங்கி வைத்துப் பேசியது:  

           கடலூர் மாவட்டத்தில் மொத்தம் 604 கிராம நிர்வாக அலுவலர் பணியிடங்கள் உள்ளது. இவற்றில் 166 இடங்கள் காலியாக உள்ளதால் மாவட்ட நிர்வாக பணிகள் மேற்கொள்ள நெருக்கடி ஏற்படுகிறது. தற்போது ஒரு நிர்வாக அலுவலர் 3 கிராமங்களில் பணியாற்றும் நிலை உள்ளது. இதற்கு முன்பு நடைபெற்ற கிராம நிர்வாக அலுவலர் தேர்வில் அனைவரும் தோல்வியுற்றனர்.  

           இதைக் கருóத்தில் கொண்டு தாழ்த்தப்பட்ட மக்கள் அதிகம் வகிப்பதால் அவ்ர்களுக்கு தேர்வுக்கான ஆயத்த பயிற்சி நடத்த முடிவு செய்யப்பட்டு தற்போது தொடங்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. கடலூர் மாவட்டத்தில் 59.354 பேர் தேர்வு எழுதுகின்றனர். எனவே இந்த அரிய வாய்ப்பை பயன்படுத்தி பயிற்சியில் பங்கேற்ற 85 பேரும் தேர்ச்சி பெற வேண்டும். கடலூர் மாவட்டத்தில் தொடங்கப்பட்டுள்ள இப்பயிற்சியை பயன்படுத்திக் கொள்ள வேண்டும் என பெ.சீதாராமன் தெரிவித்தார்.  

விழாவில் துணைவேந்தர் டாக்டர் எம்.ராமநாதன் வாழ்த்துரை வழங்கி பேசியது: 

             கிராம நிர்வாக அலுவலர் தேர்வுக்காக பல்கலைக்கழக ஆசிரியர்கள் தொகுத்து பதிப்புத்துறை மூலம் இலவச நூலை வெளியிட்டுள்ளது பாராட்டுக்குரியது. இந்த நூல் அனைவருக்கும் மலிவான விலையில் கிடைக்க ஏற்பாடு செய்யப்படும். இதுபோன்று டிஎன்பிஎஸ்சி, ஐஏஎஸ் உள்ளிட்ட தேர்வுக்கான நூல்களை பேராசிரியர்கள் தயாரித்து நமது பதிப்புத்துறை மூலம் வெளியிட வேண்டும்.  

              மேலும் இதுபோன்ற அரசு பயிற்சி திட்டங்களை தொடர்ந்து செயல்படுத்த அண்ணாமலைப் பல்கலைக்கழக தயாராக உள்ளது என துணைவேந்தர் எம்.ராமநாதன் தெரிவித்தார். விழாவுக்கு கலைப்புல முதல்வர் ஏ.என்.கண்ணப்பன் தலைமை வகித்தார். எஸ்.சி., எஸ்.டி.ஸ பிரிவு ஒருங்கிணைப்பாளர் பேராசிரியர் தெய்வசிகாமணி வரவேற்றார். மாவட்ட தாட்கோ மேலாளர் ரங்கநாதன் திட்டவிளக்கவுரையாற்றினார். பேராசிரியர் கே.சிவக்குமார் நன்றி கூறினார்.  விழாவில் என்.எஸ்.எஸ். திட்ட ஒருங்கிணைப்பாளர் டி.ஆர்.ஜெயராஜ், மக்கள் தொடர்பு அதிகாரி எஸ்.செல்வம் உள்ளிட்டோர் பங்கேற்றனர்.
