விருத்தாசலத்தில் 22 ஆண்டுகளுக்குப்பின் காங்கிரஸ் 5வது முறையாக களமிறங்குகிறது

விருத்தாசலம் : 

            விருத்தாசலம் தொகுதியில் 22 ஆண்டுகள் கழித்து தேர்தலை சந்திக்க காங். கட்சி களமிறங்கியுள்ளது. 

            தமிழகத்தில் இதுவரை நடந்த 13 சட்டமன்ற தேர்தல்களில் விருத்தாசலம் தொகுதியில் காங்கிரஸ் கட்சி நான்குமுறை வெற்றி பெற்றுள்ளது. 1962, 1967 தொடர்ந்து இரு தேர்தல்களில் பூவராகவனும், 1980, 1984ல் தொடர்ந்து இரு முறை தியாகராஜனும் காங்கிரஸ் கட்சியில் போட்டியிட்டு வெற்றி பெற்றனர். 1989 முதல் 2006 வரை நடந்த நான்கு தேர்தல்களிலும் காங்கிரஸ் கட்சி இங்கு போட்டியிடவில்லை. தொடர்ந்து 22 ஆண்டு இடைவெளிக்கு பின் இந்த தேர்தலில் காங்., போட்டியிட உள்ளது.

               இது அக்கட்சியினருக்கு மகிழ்ச்சியை தந்தாலும் நீண்ட இடைவெளிக்கு பின்னர் தேர்தலை சந்திப்பது தொகுதி மக்களிடம் புதிய கட்சி போன்ற தோற்றத்தை ஏற்படுத்தியுள்ளது. ஒரு காலத்தில் தொகுதியில் வலுவாக இருந்த காங்., கட்சி தற்போது சொற்ப ஓட்டு வங்கியையே வைத்துள்ளது. இதனால் தொகுதியில் மக்களிடம் பரிச்சயம் குறைந்துள்ளதாலும், கூட்டணி கட்சிகளின் ஓட்டுகளை நம்பியே எதிரணியை சந்திக்க வேண்டியிருப்பதாலும் காங்கிரசுக்கு இது சவாலான தேர்தலாகும். காங்கிரஸ் கட்சி விருத்தாசலம் தொகுதியில் மீண்டும் ஐந்தாவது முறையாக வெற்றி பெற்று அரியனை ஏறி நீண்ட இடைவெளிக்கு முற்றுப் புள்ளி வைக்குமா என்பது வாக்காளர் கையில் தான் உள்ளது.

Expenditure observer arrives in Cuddalore

CUDDALORE: 

          The Election Commission has deputed G.M. Kamei as the expenditure observer for the forthcoming Assembly elections in the five constituencies of Cuddalore, Kurinjipadi, Bhuvanagiri, Chidambaram and Kattumannarkoil.

         District Election Officer P. Seetharaman received him at the camp office and gave an overview of the Assembly segments in the district. Mr. Kamei is from the Indian Customs and Central Excise Services Department, Nagaland. He would keep a watch on the election expenses of candidates and political parties in the above mentioned Assembly constituencies.

Complaint against Chidambaram municipal official

CUDDALORE: 

          Chidambaram Municipal Commissioner in-charge T. Mariappan has lodged a police complaint against the cashier of the municipality, C. Balu, alleging that he had swindled the funds to the tune of over Rs. 1.21 crore over a period of 16 years.

              According to sources, Balu had been working in the municipality in capacity as a junior assistant and cashier. He had been entrusted with the task of remitting municipality money in the Chidambaram branch of the Cuddalore District Central Cooperative Bank. The misappropriation came to light when a cheque issued by the civic authorities recently was returned by the bank for lack of funds.
