Trichy Engineering College

              The College was founded by Annai Santhiya Educational Health & Charitable Trust, Woraiyur, Trichirappalli with the permission of the Government of Tamil Nadu as per G.O. Ms. No 524 (Education) dated 24.9.98. The Trust which is dedicated to the cause of promoting technical education as part of its philanthrophic scheme, purchased 57 acres of land in Konalai Village, 22 KM away from Tiruchirappalli on the Chennai Trichirappalli Highway & established the College.

           The College was started by Mr. S. Subramaniam, Chairman, Mookambigai College of Engineering who is also the secretary of this college. Mrs. Sujatha Subramaniam who is the chairperson of the college also taking keen interest in expanding the college. She has an outstanding talent & efficiency in shaping this institution in a distinguished way.

NASSCOM's assessment tests compulsory for IT, ITES freshers

                Freshers aspiring to get into the top 20 Information Technology (IT) and IT Enabled Services (ITES) companies in the country will have to write the assessment test from this year, the National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM) Regional Director for Tamil Nadu and Kerala K. Purushothaman said.

           The Regional Director, who was here on Saturday, told The Hindu that the test will be conducted in two forms namely NACTECH and NAC. NACTECH (NASSCOM Assessment Compliance Technology Test) will be conducted for final year engineering, technology, Master of Computer Applications, M.Sc. Software and M.Sc. Information Technology students; and NAC (NASSCOM Assessment Compliance Test) for final year arts and science students.

              The test will be for an hour where the students will have to take up the online objective type questions, he added. According to him, colleges willing to conduct the tests will have to express their intent to NASSCOM. A team will be sent to inspect if the facilities in those institutions such as computers with internet connectivity are conducive to conduct the tests. If they are not suitable the students there will be asked to asked to attend the test at a nearby college that is suitable to conduct it, he said and added that the minimum student strength for which the test be conducted on a said date will be 500 students. He noted that the tests are not restricted to students of particular institutions as any final year student irrespective of the institution can attend the test.

            “NACTECH and NAC were introduced about three years ago and was not made mandatory but even then nearly two lakh students wrote it in the year 2010”, Mr. Purushothaman said. Mr. Purushothaman, however, made it clear that students clearing these tests will not be directly appointed by those companies, as it will only certify them to undergo the second level of screening conducted by the companies.

Rural Industries Minister M.C. Sampath and Social Welfare Minister Selvi Ramajayam distributed Aid to differently abled

Improving lives: Rural Industries Minister M.C. Sampath and Social Welfare Minister Selvi Ramajayam giving away assistance to differently abled persons in Cuddalore on Saturday.

CUDDALORE: 

            Rural Industries Minister M.C. Sampath and Social Welfare Minister Selvi Ramajayam gave away assistance worth Rs. 4.3 lakh at a function here on Saturday.

               The aid included wheel-chairs to differently abled persons and marriage and educational assistance. Later, both Ministers held a review meeting with the officials and took stock of the performance of various departments. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sampath said that Chief Minister Jayalalithaa had been taking speedy measures for the implementation of the election promises. She had already issued orders in regard to promises, including the free rice scheme, enhanced compensation to fishermen and marriage assistance.

                Under the marriage assistance, the Chief Minister had been giving away Rs. 50,000 in cash and four grams of gold to women who had obtained degrees and Rs. 25,000 and four grams of gold to women who had completed Class X. Mr. Sampath called upon the officials to work with vigour to take the benefits of the welfare schemes to the poor and downtrodden. Ms. Ramajayam said that the Chief Minister had been considerate enough to fulfil the demands of people. However, she had been receiving many petitions seeking streetlights and water supply and it meant that block-level officials were still lagging behind in discharging their responsibilities.

                 Ms. Ramajayam urged the officials to work in such a way that the benefits of all government schemes reached the target groups. Collector V. Amuthavalli, District Revenue Officer C. Rajendran, and MLAs Sorathur R. Rajendran, M.P.S. Sivasubramanian, K. Balakrishnan and Murugumaran were present.
