CUDDALORE:
Collector P. Seetharaman has appealed to the people not to resort to agitations seeking flood relief. A mechanism has already been put in place to distribute relief on a war-footing, he said.
So far, a compensation of Rs. 8.73 crore had been disbursed to a total of 48,378 houses affected by the floods. The enumeration process for determining houses damaged in all flood-hit areas would be completed by this week-end. Similarly, assessment of crop damage in the district would be completed by the week-end. Meanwhile, disbursement of compensation was ordered to offset crop losses on 3,150 hectares.
