இலவச தங்கத் தாலி திட்டம் தமிழகத்தில் தொடக்கம்

       ஏழைப் பெண்களுக்கு இலவச தங்கத் தாலி வழங்கும் திட்டத்தை முதல்வர் ஜெயலலிதா நேற்று  தொடங்கி வைத்தார். இத்தகவல் தமிழக அரசு வெளியிட்டுள்ள செய்திக்குறிப்பில் தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

           25,000 ரூபாய் நிதி உதவியோடு, மணப் பெண்ணின் திருமாங்கல்யம் செய்ய 4 கிராம் (22 கேரட்) தங்கம் இலவசமாக வழங்கவும், இளம் பெண்கள் கல்வி கற்பதை ஊக்குவிப்பதற்காக, இளநிலைப் பட்டம் அல்லது டிப்ளோமா பட்டயம் பெற்ற பெண்களுக்கு திருமண உதவித் தொகையை 25 ஆயிரம் ரூபாயிலிருந்து 50 ஆயிரம் ரூபாயாக உயர்த்தி வழங்குவதோடு மணப் பெண்ணின் திருமாங்கல்யம் செய்ய 4 கிராம் தங்கம் இலவசமாக வழங்கவும் தேர்தல் அறிக்கையில் அறிவித்திருந்தபடி முதல்வர் ஜெயலலிதா 16.5.2001 அன்று ஆணையிட்டார். 

               தேர்தல் அறிக்கையில் அறிவித்திருந்தபடி  திருமண நிதி உதவியுடன் திருமாங்கல்யம்  செய்ய தங்கம் வழங்கும் திட்டத்தை இன்று   (6.6.2011)  தலைமைச் செயலகத்தில் தொடங்கி வைத்து, ஏழு ஏழைப் பெண்களுக்கு 25 ஆயிரம் ரூபாய் நிதி உதவியுடன் திருமாங்கல்யம் செய்ய, நான்கு கிராம் (22 கேரட்) தங்க நாணயம் வழங்கி வாழ்த்தினார்.   

             இளம் பெண்கள் கல்வி கற்பதை ஊக்குவிப்பதற்காக, இளநிலைப் பட்டம் அல்லது டிப்ளோமா பட்டயம் பெற்ற பெண்களுக்கு திருமண உதவித் தொகை ஏற்கனவே வழங்கப்பட்ட ரூபாய் 25 ஆயிரத்தை, 50 ஆயிரம் ரூபாயாக உயர்த்தி வழங்க ஆணையிட்டிருந்தார்.  அதன்படி,  இளநிலைப் பட்டம் அல்லது டிப்ளோமா பட்டயம் பெற்ற ஏழு பெண்களுக்கு, திருமண நிதி உதவியாக ரூபாய் 50,000/-க்கான காசோலையுடன்  திருமாங்கல்யம் செய்ய 4 கிராம் தங்க நாணயமும் வழங்கி வாழ்த்தினார். 

            முதல்வரிடமிருந்து திருமண நிதி உதவியுடன் திருமாங்கல்யம்  செய்ய தங்கமும் பெற்றுக் கொண்ட பெண்கள், முதல்வருக்கு நன்றி தெரிவித்துக் கொண்டார்கள். இவ்வாறு அந்த செய்திக்குறிப்பில் தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

கடலூரில் சாலையோர பூங்கா மற்றும் நீரூற்று பராமரிப்பின்றி காய்ந்து வரும் அவலம்

            கடலூர் நகரை அழகுபடுத்தும் திட்டத்தில் அமைக்கப்பட்ட சாலையோர பூங்கா, நீரூற்று பராமரிப்பின்றி உள்ளது. 

         கடலூர் நகரை அழகுபடுத்தும் திட்டத்தில் கலெக்டராக இருந்த ககன்தீப்சிங் பேடி சாலையோரத்தில் 5 இடங்களில் பூங்கா மற்றும் நீரூற்றுகளை அமைத்தார். கடந்த 2004-05ம் ஆண்டு தன்னிறைவு திட்டத்தில் 6.75 லட்சம் மதிப்பீட்டில் அண்ணாபாலம் சிக்னல் அருகே நீரூற்று மற்றும் பூங்கா அமைக்கப்பட்டது. கடலூர் சிப்காட்டில் இயங்கி வரும் ரசாயன கம்பெனிகள் இந்த பூங்காவை பராமரிப்பதற்காக ஒப்படைக்கப்பட்டன. 

             அவற்றில் ஒரு சில ரசாயன கம்பெனிகள் முறையாக பராமரித்து வருகின்றன. அண்ணாபாலம் சிக்னல் அருகே எதிரெதிரே அமைக்கப்பட்ட பூங்காக்களில் ஜவான்ஸ் பவன் அருகே அமைக்கப்பட்ட பூங்கா டான்ஃபேக் நிறுவனம் பராமரித்து வந்தது. தற்போது அதிலிருந்த மின் மோட்டார் காணாமல் போனதைத் தொடர்ந்து பூங்காவில் உள்ள அழகான செடிகள், பூச்செடிகள் காய்ந்து வருகின்றன. நீரூற்றும் செயல்படவில்லை. எனவே பழுதாகியுள்ள நீரூற்றை சரி செய்ய மாவட்ட நிர்வாகம் முயற்சி மேற்கொள்ள வேண்டும்.

கடலூர் பாடலீஸ்வரர் கோவிலில் வைகாசி திருவிழா

      கடலூர் திருப்பாபுலியூரில் பிரசித்தி பெற்ற பாடலீஸ்வரர் கோவில் உள்ளது. இக்கோவிலில் ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் வைகாசி திருவிழா மிக சிறப்பாக நடைபெறும். 

 

          

                அதுபோல் இந்த ஆண்டு வைகாசி திருவிழா திங்கட்கிழமை காலை 6.30 மணியளவில் கொடி ஏற்றத்துடன் தொடங்கியது. 9 மணிக்கு பஞ்சமூர்த்தி வீதி உலா நடைபெற்றது. இரவு 8 மணிக்கு இந்திர விமானத்தில் பஞ்சமூர்த்திகள் மற்றும் சேக்கிழார் வீதி உலா நடைபெறுகிறது.

              தொடர்ந்து 13-ந் தேதி வரை காலை, மாலையில் பல்வேறு வாகனங்களில் சாமி வீதி உலாவும், மண்டகப்படியும் நடக்கிறது.   விழாவின் முக்கிய நிகழ்ச்சியான தேர்த்திருவிழா வருகிற 14-ந் தேதி (செவ்வாய்க்கிழமை) காலை 8 மணிக்கு நடக்கிறது.  தேர் திருவிழாவில் கடலூர் மற்றும் அதனை சுற்றி உள்ள பல்வேறு கிராமங்களில் இருந்தும் ஏராளமான பக்தர்கள் கலந்து கொள்கிறார்கள். விழாவுக்கான ஏற்பாடுகளை கோவில் தக்கார் ஜெகநாதன், செயல் அலுவலர் மேனகா ஆகியோர் செய்து வருகிறார்கள்.

Cror es lost in mining in Cuddalore

          Government is losing crores due to illegal sand mining by the sand mafia besides alleged bending of rules by government officials to create artificial demand, according to Tamil Nadu Lorry Owners Federation.M K Nagappan, general secretary, TN Lorry Owners Federation and South Chennai Lorry Owners Federation, alleged that lack of an agency to monitor the sale of sand has resulted in the escalation of price hitting the construction sector.

           Highlighting the apathy of public works department officials, he alleged that the department officials are violating the government order to provide two units of sand for small vehicles and four units for multi-axle vehicles in Cuddalore. “They are providing us with only three units from June 1, 2011,” Nagappan alleged, adding that they have to adjust the price of three units to four units.When PWD executive engineer Palanikumar was contacted by City Express, he did say a Government Order was there in 2003 to give four units of sand. However, a separate GO also came into being during the DMK regime in 2008 to provide three units of sand. 

             “I was in Chennai to discuss the issue. The 2008 GO never said that four units of sand should not be issued. I will provide the usual quota of sand to the lorries,” he said. Nagappan also alleged that sand is being mined from a quarry in Thirukazhagukundram in Pattavatam near Kanchipuram district despite being closed by the government. “Tractors and bullock carts are being used to smuggle the sand,” he alleged. But when Varma, a sand quarry official, was contacted, he said the quarry will open from Wednesday and a kilometer-long road is being built by using the sand from the riverbed by using the tractors. But Nagappan said that rived sand is never used in laying the road. 

             “Officials are bending the rules to create a artificial sand crisis in the city besides sand mafia is piling sand in their godown to sell it at the black market as well as for second sales,” he alleged.TN Sand and Lorry Owners Federation president S Yuvaraj told City Express that 55 per cent of the construction sector in the city is affected as only six quarries are functioning of the 22 quarries which were operating before elections. Now only 3,000 load of sand is being transported to the city against the demand of 10,000 to 12,000 load per day, he added. Currently, two quarries in Villupuram, two in Cuddalore, one in Kanchipuram and one in Vellore are functioning.

Mercury rising at Cuddalore

         Environmental activists Nityanand Jayaraman and Shwetha Narayan led an evening of an unconventional choice of issues coming together on Sunday at Spaces, Elliots Beach Road. This time their customary rock show was replaced with a fundraiser in support of struggles by pollution-impacted communities at Cuddalore, Mettur and Kodaikanal. To start things off, there was a solo bharatnatyam performance by Aniruddhan Vasudevan.

         Based on the story of Brihannala, in which Arjuna time spent cursed with the role of a eunuch, the dancer played the role with consummate ease. Narrating his way through the tale of how this came about, Aniruddhan had the audience rather hooked as he made a joke or two, twirling around in his skirt daintily. With thoughtful pauses to the rhythm of live music and vocals, he described his fancy for Arjuna, and his ability to show versatility at being both the valiant warrior and the gentle-footed eunuch. Rather surprisingly, after the show, the dancer explained, “Well it had nothing to do with pollution.

         This was a personal piece and it’s more along the lines of gender fluidity and how there is no security in gender really.” The highlight of the evening was a 16-minute documentary by R Amuthan titled ‘Mercury in the Mist’. The film showed footage of former plant workers at Unilever in Kodaikanal, affected years later by exposure to mercury. Some had children with deformities, others with affected hearing and vision or heart problems. According to the film, 30 ex-workers have died since the company shut down in 2001, all in the 20-30 age bracket.

          Despite the growing number of mosquitoes at the open air venue as the documentary played, it was clearly an eye opener for many. And hopefully, with more events targetted at awareness such as this one, justice might just be served.

Four killed in accident near Cuddalore-Chidambaram road

         Four people were killed and 11 others injured when the van in which they were travelling dashed against a roadside tree and overturned near Alapakkam railway gate on the Cuddalore-Chidambaram road in last night.

         Police said a group of 20 people from Keezhpoovani Kuppam village were proceeding to attend a house-warming ceremony at Vazhutalampattu village when the incident occurred. When the vehicle neared the Alapakkam railway gate, the van driver lost control and rammed the vehicle into a tamarind tree.

        In the impact, the vehicle overturned, crushing three people -- Suresh, Moorthy and Ilamtherian -- to death on the spot. Twelve people who had sustained injuries were admitted to Cuddalore Government Hospital. One of them Thavamani died while he was being shifted to a Puducherry hospital for treatment.

Protest against “unsavoury treatment” meted out to Baba Ramdev

CUDDALORE: 

        Condemning the “unsavoury treatment” meted out to the yoga guru Baba Ramdev in New Delhi, leaders and cadres of the Bharatiya Janata Party, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, the Hindu Munnani and the State Kisan Morcha staged a protest demonstration here on Monday.

         According to K.V.Kannan, State Kisan Morcha Prabhari, Baba Ramdev had obtained due permission from the authorities for his fast in New Delhi. And yet, the police bundled him up in the night and also unleashed violence against innocent and peace-loving people by lobbing teargas shells and attacking them with lathis. They were after all carrying out the protest without disturbing law and order and yet, the police let loose brutality on them. Such an abominable action had shaken the very fundamentals of democracy. Hence, the above mentioned organizations held the demonstration today.

          All the speakers endorsed the 14 demands put forth by Baba Ramdev for eradication of corruption such as giving capital punishment to those indulging in corruption, all the money stashed away in foreign countries should be declared as national assets and brought back and so on. Those who participated included BJP State secretary S.Adhavan and Cuddalore party incharge Gunasekaran.
