கடலூர் அரசு மருத்துவக் கல்லூரிக்கான அடிக்கல் நாட்டு விழா

கடலூர்:

            கடந்த தேர்தலின்போது அளித்த அனைத்து வாக்குறுதிகளையும், வழங்காத உறுதிமொழிகளையும் தி.மு.க. அரசு நிறைவேற்றியுள்ளது என்று துணை முதல்வர் மு.க. ஸ்டாலின் குறிப்பிட்டார். 

           கடலூர் அருகே வண்டிக்குப்பம் கிராமத்தில் சமத்துவபுரத்தை ஞாயிற்றுக்கிழமை திறந்து வைத்தார். பின்னர், அரசு காசநோய் மருத்துவமனை வளாகத்தில் நடந்த அரசு விழாவில் ரூ. 100 கோடியில் அமையவுள்ள கடலூர் அரசு மருத்துவக் கல்லூரிக்கான அடிக்கல்லை நாட்டினார். அந்த விழாவில் 2 ஆயிரம் மகளிர் சுய உதவிக் குழுக்களுக்கு சுழல் நிதி, 400 சுய உதவிக் குழுக்களுக்கு கடன் உதவி வழங்கினார். மேலும் ரூ. 32.88 கோடியில் கட்டப்பட்ட புதிய அரசு கட்டடங்களைத் திறந்து வைத்தார்.

         அத்துடன் ரூ. 133.15 கோடிக்கான புதிய திட்டங்களுக்கு அடிக்கல் நாட்டி, ரூ. 25.29 கோடிக்கான அரசு நல திட்ட உதவிகளையும் வழங்கினார். 

இவ் விழாவில் மு.க.ஸ்டாலின் பேசியது: 

            பல அரசு விழாக்களில் நல திட்ட உதவிகளை முழுமையாக வழங்குவதில்லை. சிலருக்கு வழங்கிவிட்டு பின்னர் அலுவலகத்தில் வந்து பெற்றுக் கொள்ள செய்வார்கள். அதுதான் மரபாக இருந்துவருகிறது. ஆனால் நான் நல திட்ட உதவிகள் வழங்குவதில் மாற்றத்தைக் கொண்டுவந்தேன். நல திட்ட உதவிகளை அனைவருக்கும் வழங்கிவிட்டு, அதன் பின்னரே மேடையைவிட்டு இறங்குகிறேன்.  தற்போது இங்கு நல திட்ட உதவிகள் வாங்குவோர், அவற்றை வாங்கும்போதே புகைப்படம் எடுத்து, அவர்கள் மீண்டும் இருக்கையில் சென்று அமரும்போது அந்த புகைப்படம் வழங்கும் வகையில் ஏற்பாடு செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளது.    இவ்வாறு பல மணி நேரம் நின்று நல திட்ட உதவிகளை வழங்குவதன் காரணம்,  நல திட்ட உதவிகளைப் பெறும் அனைவரின் முகத்திலும் மகிழ்ச்சியைப் பார்க்கிறேன். 

          திட்டத்தின் பயன்கள் மக்களைச் சென்றடைகிறது என்ற நம்பிக்கை முதல்வர் கருணாநிதிக்கு ஏற்படுகிறது. இதுவரை மொத்தம் 125 மணி நேரம் செலவிட்டு நல திட்ட உதவிகளை வழங்கி இருக்கிறேன். இது எனக்கு பெருமையாக உள்ளது.  1996-ல் பெரியார் சமத்துவபுர திட்டம் தொடங்கப்பட்டது. 2001 வரை 148 சமத்துவபுரங்கள் திறக்கப்பட்டன. அதன்பிறகு ஆட்சி மாற்றம் ஏற்பட்டது. சமத்துவபுரங்கள் கட்டப்படவில்லை. 2006-க்கு பின்பு மீண்டும் சமத்துவபுரங்கள் உருவாக்கப்பட்டன.

           95 சமத்துவபுரங்கள் திறக்கப்பட்டு உள்ளன.அதேபோல மகளிர் சுய உதவிக் குழுக்களின் செயல்பாட்டில் அகில இந்திய அளவில் தமிழகம் முதலிடம் வகிக்கிறது.   இங்கே இந்த விழாவில் ஆண்கள் இடம்தர மறுத்ததால் பெண்கள் பின்னால் அமர்ந்து இருக்கலாம். ஆனால் சமூகத்தில் பெண்கள் இல்லாமல் ஆண்கள் வெற்றிபெற முடியாது. கடந்த தேர்தலின்போது அளித்த, அளிக்காத உறுதிமொழிகளையும் நிறைவேற்றி இருக்கிறோம் என்றார் ஸ்டாலின். விழாவுக்கு மக்கள் நல்வாழ்வுத்துறை அமைச்சர் எம்.ஆர்.கே. பன்னீர்செல்வம் தலைமை தாங்கினார். மாவட்ட ஆட்சியர் பெ.சீதாராமன் வரவேற்றார்.

            தேர்வு தேதி நெருங்கிவிட்டதால், "ஹால் டிக்கெட்' கிடைக்காதவர்கள், கலக்கம் அடைந்து வருகின்றனர். இந்நிலையில், விண்ணப்பதாரர்கள், தங்களது விண்ணப்பத்தின் நிலையை, இணையதளம் மூலம் www.tnpsc.gov.in பார்த்து தெரிந்து கொள்ளலாம் என, டி.என்.பி.எஸ்.சி., அறிவித்துள்ளது. விண்ணப்பத்தின் எண்களையோ அல்லது பெயரின் முதல் நான்கு எழுத்துக்கள், பிறந்த தேதி ஆகியவற்றை பதிவு செய்தால், விண்ணப்பத்தின் நிலை குறித்து அறியலாம்.

சிதம்பரத்தில் வேளாண் சங்க ஊழியரை தாக்கி ரூ.6 லட்சம் கொள்ளை

            வங்கியில் பணம் செலுத்த சென்ற இருவரை கத்தியால் வெட்டி, 6 லட்சம் ரூபாயை கொள்ளையடித்த ஹெல்மெட் அணிந்த மர்ம ஆசாமிகள் இருவரை போலீசார் தேடி வருகின்றனர்.

                  கடலூர் மாவட்டம் சிதம்பரம் அண்ணாமலை நகர் ரயில்வே கேட் அருகே வேளாண் உற்பத்தியாளர் விற்பனை சங்கம் உள்ளது. இங்கு பணிபுரியும் காசாளர் பாலமுருகன் (45), ஆடிட்டர் தண்டபாணி ஆகியோர் நேற்று மதியம் 2.30 மணியளவில் தெற்கு வீதியில் உள்ள கூட்டுறவு வங்கியில் செலுத்த 6 லட்சம் ரூபாயுடன் தனித்தனி மோட்டார் சைக்கிளில் சென்றனர். பணப்பையை பாலமுருகன் எடுத்துச் சென்றார். 

              வங்கியில் 3 மணிக்கு மேல் வருமாறு திருப்பி அனுப்பியதால், பணத்தை மீண்டும் தங்களது அலுவலகத்தில் வைக்க இருவரும் திரும்பினர். அண்ணாமலைப் பல்கலைக்கழக தொலைதூரக் கல்வி மையம் அருகே வந்த போது, ஹெல்மெட் அணிந்து மோட்டார் சைக்கிளில் வந்த இருவர் பாலமுருகன் மற்றும் தண்டபாணியை வழிமறித்து கத்தியால் வெட்டி பணத்தை பறித்துக் கொண்டு தப்பினர்.

             கடலூர் மாவட்டம், நெல்லிக்குப்பம் பகுதியில் நேற்று மதியம் சுற்றித் திரிந்த 12 வயது சிறுவனிடம் போலீசார் விசாரணை நடத்தினர். தனது பெயர் தமிழ்மணி, புதுச்சேரி வீரமாமுனிவர் பள்ளியில் எட்டாம் வகுப்பு படிப்பதாகவும், கிருஷ்ணா நகரில் தந்தை மாணிக்கம், தாய் கவிதா, சகோதரி கீர்த்தனா, சகோதரர் குணா இருப்பதாகவும் தெரிவித்தான். சிறுவன் கொடுத்த தகவலின்படி, போலீசார் விசாரணை நடத்தியதில், அப்படி யாரும் இல்லை என தெரிந்தது.

Stone laid for Cuddalore medical college

CUDDALORE: 

        Deputy Chief Minister M.K.Stalin laid the foundation stone for the government medical college to be constructed at a cost of Rs. 100 crore at M.Pudur near here on Sunday.

        Earlier, he opened the Periyar Memorial Samathuvapuram at Ramapuram, some distance away from M.Pudur, built at a cost of Rs 2.55 crore. The medical college will come up on 25 acres in a total pack of 100 acres of land available with the tuberculosis sanatorium at M.Pudur. Mr. Stalin said that to commemorate the 95-year-life span of E.V.Ramasamy, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, after coming to power in 2006, had decided to build 95 samathuvapurams.

      Of these, 29 were opened during 2008-2009 and of the 30 samathupurams targeted for 2009-2010 so far 24 were completed. Health Minister M.R.K. Panneerselvam spoke. V.K.Subburaj, Principal Secretary, Health Department, P.Seetharaman, Collector, G.Aiyappan and Saba.Rajendran, MLAs, were present.

Celebrating a national icon At Porto Novo

CUDDALORE: 

       Porto Novo, known as Parangipettai in Tamil, has a historically significant monument for Hyder Ali who ruled over many parts of the southern India and challenged the mighty British Empire with valour and mixed fortunes.

          Amid well laid-out pathways, manicured lawns and flowering plants that add beauty to the monument, a plaque mounted on a marble platform reads as follows: “Battle was fought on the plains about two miles to the west of this place between Hyder Ali and the English under Sir Eyre Coote on 1st July 1781.”

         It is stated that Hyder Ali, a warrior, was adept at using rocket technology that was hailed to be far advanced than that used by the Europeans. When Sir Eyre Coote, deployed by Governor Warren Hastings for the specific purpose of sapping the powers of Hyder Ali, arrived at Madras, the latter who was camping at Thanjavur rushed to challenge the British troops at Porto Novo, midway between Cuddalore and Chidambaram.

        According to historical facts Hyder Ali used rockets that could attack the opponents stationed two miles away and even beyond. He was said to have even used carts as mobile launchers for the rockets and also had in his armory rockets of various sizes and velocity to hit the targets at varied distances. Though the war at Porto Novo ended decisively in favour of the British, the place and the battle has come to acquire vital importance because it was a sign of Hyder Ali's bravery and his efforts to relieve the people from the clutches of the colonialists.

             Porto Novo Town Panchayat Chairman Mohamed Yunus told The Hindu that with a view to disseminate knowledge of the exploits of Hyder Ali and his historical role in combating the British, the park had been set up at a cost of Rs 10 lakh, out of the total amount of Rs 50 lakh sanctioned under the Eco-tourism Promotion Scheme.

Metallic mast

             Another important landmark in the park is the metallic high mast that stands over 150 ft. According to Mr Yunus, in the earlier days the mast served as the landmark for the seafarers to identify the port. The mast was secured on all its sides with metallic wires and kept intact.

        Pavements have been laid all around the park for senior citizens to take walks and a childrens' park is an added attraction. He said that a wooden boat jetty was put up just opposite the park for taking the tourists on a joy ride through the backwater. Mr Yunus further said that he had sent a Rs 1crore proposal to the government to establish a link, through the sea route, between Porto Novo and the Pichavaram, famed for its mangroves. Mr Yunus hopes that “if the plan comes through Porto Novo is bound to emerge as a major tourist destination.” Publicity blitz would also help popularize the place among the prospective tourists, he said. The park is open to the public on all days.

         Sri Jayaram Engineering College, patronised by CavinKare Pvt. Ltd, organised a one-day workshop on “Innovations in the filed of embedded systems and usage of LabVIEW” under the aegis of the Electronics and Communication Engineering Department on the college premises here recently.

        A statement from the college stated that J.Visweswaran, academic technical consultant, National Instruments, Bangalore, gave an insight into LabVIEW software, a virtual instrument, and its multiple applications. He also inaugurated “Commutronix,” students' association of Electronics and Communication Engineering Department, on the occasion. Over 145 delegates from various engineering colleges participated. Rs. 6 lakh snatched from society staff at Chidambaram

CUDDALORE:

         Two motorcycle-borne persons, inflicted knife injuries on two employees of the Agricultural Producers' Cooperative Marketing Society and snatched away a cash bag containing Rs 6 lakh near the Annamalai Nagar flyover at Chidambaram on Monday.

         Police sources said that society cashier Balamurugan (44) along with another employee Dhandayudhapani were riding a two-wheeler to the cooperative bank in Chidambaram town to deposit the money. As the bank instructed them to bring the cash at 3 p.m., the employees were returning to the society when the incident occured. A hunt is on to trace the culprits.

Notify revised fee structure by March-end

CUDDALORE: 

          The Matriculation Schools Managements Association, Cuddalore district, has appealed to the State government to notify the revised fee structure before March-end to all matriculation schools that have contested the Justice Govindarajan Committee's recommendations.

         Fixing such a timeline is of vital importance as it would clear misgivings among students and parents about the fee structure and also protect the interests of teachers in terms of ensuring regular salary payment and avoiding staff retrenchment. The Association, at its general body meeting held here recently, adopted a resolution. Nandakumar, State secretary, K. Rajendran, patron of the Cuddalore unit, C.R. Lakshmikandhan, president, Jegannathan, vice-president, and S.Kumar, secretary, were present.

          In another resolution, the Association said that if there is delay in revising the fee structure by the Justice Raviraja Pandian Committee, the government could pass an interim order permitting the school managements to keep the 2009-2010 structure as the basis and collect 15 per cent extra fees for 2010-2011 and an additional 15 per cent for 2011-2012 so as to cushion the inflationary pressure such as rise in cost index and salary.

          The Association also called upon the government to permit private schools to create a corpus fund, as provided under the Tamil Nadu School Fees Collection Regulation Act, to meet the expenditure on construction of additional classrooms, purchase of furniture and maintain cash reserve deposit for salary payment. The Association was of the view that the syllabus prescribed for equitable education would dilute the standard of education and, hence, it should be made on a par with the syllabus of the National Council of Educational Research and Training.

          The government should also allow the students to purchase quality textbooks brought out by standard publishers but ensure that such books are available at fair price. It urged the Centre to drop the “no detention policy” to be adopted up to Class VIII as it would cause a setback in standard of education. Instead, the Association suggested, introduction of simple test methods and issuance of course completion certificates to those students, who do not want to pursue education beyond Class VIII.
