CUDDALORE:
Panguni Uthiram was celebrated with fervour at various Murugan temples in Cuddalore and Villupuram districts.
“Kavadis” were adorned with flowers and peacock feathers. Some devotees pierced their back with hooks to pull small chariots, carrying idols of Lord Muruga. A large number of devotees thronged Sri Siva Subramania Swamy temple at Veludaiyanpattu, located within Neyveli Township, to offer prayers. The Neyveli fete that started on March 9 would culminate on March 21. Firework display would mark ‘theppa utsavam' on March 20. Special bus services were operated from various parts of the district to Neyveli Township. Devotees also thronged the Kolanjiappar temple at Vriddhachalam and Arumuga Swami temple at Mayilam in Villupuram district. Heavy police bandobust has been provided at all the temples.
