Tamil Nadu Brahmins Association paying homage to Sri Sathya Sai Baba in Cuddalore on Thursday
CUDDALORE:
The Tamil Nadu Brahmins' Association organised special bhajans here on Thursday to condole the demise of Sri Sathya Sai Baba of Puttaparthi.
Devotees paid homage to flower-bedecked portrait of Baba kept on the premises of the Manjakuppam branch of the Association. As Baba liked spotless white, an empty chair covered with a snow white cloth was put beside the portrait. A white scarf decorated with a rose was placed on the chair and a white silken cloth was spread along the path leading to the chair. K.Thirumalai, branch president, lit the lamp.
K. Thirumurthy, a nonagenarian, recalled that since Baba preached love and brotherhood he could not be confined to any religious sect. His appeal was universal because he had propagated the ideal that service to humanity was service to God. His concern for the well being of the people transcended the geographical limits and the salient example in this regard was his generous monetary assistance extended to Tamil Nadu for the implementation of the canal project for bringing the Krishna water to Chennai. The multi-specialty hospitals set up by him had been rendering yeomen services to the poor and the needy.
Cleanliness was next to godliness and this principle was close to the heart of Baba as it could be gauged by the spick and span premises of the Prasanthi Nilayam at Puttaparthi and also the neat surroundings of all his establishments. Mr Thirumalai said that Baba had rendered unparalleled social services for the betterment of humanity, and, his warmth and humaneness swelled the rank of his followers.
