‘Sandhanamum Jawwadum’ composed by Cuddalore Subramaniam in Karnataka Devagandhari

         Suchitra Balasubramanian rendered a vocal concert at the 77th monthly music festival of the Tiruchi Tamil Isai Sangam on August 21. Her concert was an amalgam of popular keertanas, while the tukkadas also attracted the audience.

          Suchithra commenced her concert with ‘Karpaga Vinayakanai’ in Hamsadhwani set to Adi talam. She followed it up with ‘Aadikondaar’ composed by Muthuthandava Dikshitar in Mayamalavagowla set to Adi talam. ‘Sandhanamum Jawwadum’ composed by Cuddalore Subramaniam in Karnataka Devagandhari set to Adi talam, ‘Sabapathiku’ by Gopalakrishna Bharati in Abhogi set to Roopaka talam, ‘Kuzhaloodi’ by Oothukadu Venkatasubbaiyar in Khambodi set to Adi talam, ‘Nainthadum Mayil’ also by the same composer in Simhendra Madhiyamam set to Adi talam, ‘Thaaye Tiripura Sundari’ by Periyasamy Thooran in Arabhi set to Kandachapu talam and the popular ragamalika ‘Chinnanchiru kiliyae’ by Subramania Bharatiar set to Adi talam were the other songs rendered by Suchitra.

             On public demand, Suchitra presented the well known numbers ‘Kattrinile Varum Geetham,’ ‘Eppo Varuvaaro,’ and ‘Eadu Thanthanadi Thillaiyile. Suchitra concluded her concert with Rajaji’s ‘Kurai Ondrum Illai’ in Ragamalika. She was ably accompanied by Srirangam R. Laxminarayanan on the violin, Chennai K. Madeswaran on the mridangam and Malaikottai R. M. Deenadayalu on the morsing. Dr. S. Gnanathilakan of Thilak Hospital was the chief guest and L.N. Lakshmanan, former Lions district governor and president of the Tiruchi Tamil Isai Sangam, presided
