Flood control room at Cuddalore


Collector P. Seetharaman giving away compensation to a person, whose daughter was struck dead by lightning, in Cuddalore on Friday.


CUDDALORE: 

            A flood control room has been set up in the Collectorate to maintain round-the-clock vigil on the flood situation in the district. The control room can be contacted over toll-free telephone number 1077 and also 04142-220651, according to Collector P. Seetharaman.

          On Friday, he gave away compensation of Rs. 1 lakh from the Calamity Relief Fund to Kuppusamy of Konur in Thittakudi block, whose daughter K. Parimala (20) was struck dead by lightning recently.

Mr. Seetharaman also said that the following officials had been appointed at the taluk level to monitor the flood situation: 

Cuddalore – Natarajan, contact number 9443483094;

Panruti – Thiruvengadam, 9894321351; 
Chidambaram – Kandasamy, 9445000209; 
Kattumannarkoil – Kesavamurthy, 9842405631; 
Vriddhachalam – Padmini, 9894214133; and 
Thittakudi – R.Ganapathi, 9842723080.

             Block Development Officers and Village Administrative Officers would take care of the flood situation at the panchayat union level and panchayat level respectively.
