CUDDALORE:
District Collector P.Seetharaman on Monday disbursed financial assistance to the tune of Rs 10.17 lakh to 21 persons for promoting inland fish breeding sources. A statement from the Collectorate said the State government was implementing the Central scheme with a subsidy component for enriching the inland fish resources. The government was giving away a subsidy of Rs 60,000 a hectare (in the case of Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes candidates Rs 75,000 a hectare) to those who breed fish in the ponds set up in their own lands. For 2009-2010, 21 such beneficiaries who were breeding fish on a total area of 13.87 ha. were identified for aid
