The Vanniyar Sangham building in Cuddalore which is under dispute
As a sequel to the expulsion of joint general secretary T. Velmurugan from the Pattali Makkal Katchi now efforts are on to drive out the ‘rebels' and take possession of the Vanniyar Sangham building located in the heart of Cuddalore town..
District secretary P. Shanmugam on Friday gave a memorandum to Incharge Revenue Divisional Officer Ilango and the Additional Superintendent of Police Ramakrishnan stating that the Vanniyar Sangham building was illegally occupied by the Velmurugan supporters. He expressed apprehension that certain outsiders, carrying weapons, must be staying in the building to foment trouble. He stated that the building belonged to the Vanniyar Sangham founded by S. Ramadoss. Therefore, the authorities should evict the illegal occupants and hand it over to the Vanniyar Sangham.
Velmuguran' stand
Mr. Velmuguran had gone public stating that if either PMK president G.K. Mani or Vanniyar Sangham leader Guru came over here he would hand over the keys to the building, but would thwart any attempt to take forcible possession of the building. He further said that because of his initiative the building had come up and the present office-bearers of the district unit did not have any role in it. Police personnel were posted there to avert any law and order problem.
