Tamilnadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa has ordered officials to set up an integrated art and culture complex in Tirunelveli with an investment of Rs 1 crore. According to a press release, in order to develop arts and culture, the Chief Minister had sanctioned a music school, an art and culture centre and Jawahar Children's Club at an integrated art and culture complex in Tirunelveli. |
She also decided to give stipend for students studying at 17 music colleges with Department of Art and Culture located in Tiruchi, Tiruvarur, Tirunelveli, Pudukottai, Salem, Cuddalore, Villupuram, Karur, Perambalur, Tuticorin, Kanchipuram, Tiruvanamalai, Sirgali, Sivagangai, Krishnagiri, Erode and Ramanathapuram. Students pursuing vocal music and learning lessons in nathaswaram, thavil, thevaram, bharathanatyam, violin and miruthangam would get a monthly stipend of Rs 200 and this would cost Rs 19.92 lakh per year to the State Exchequer. |
