Conceding to the request of Parliamentary standing committee chairman on railways T.R. Baalu, the Union railway ministry on Tuesday announced the stoppage of several trains departing from Chennai.
According to a statement from Mr Baalu, railway department has decided to stop the
Chennai Egmore-Tiruchendur Express (train No. 16735/16736) at Tiruppadirippuliyur,
Egmore-Rameshwaram Express (train No. 16701/16702) at Cuddalore,
Chennai Egmore-Guruvayur Express (16127/ 16128) at Pennadam,
Mayiladuthurai-Mysore Express (16231/16232) at Papanasam
and
Chennai Egmore-Mannargudi Express (16179/ 16180) at Villupuram from February 10.
Bhubaneswar-Rameswaram Express (train No. 18496/18495) will stop at Tiruppadirippuliyur from February 11,
while Vasco-da-gam-Velankanni Express (train No: 17315/ 17316) will stop at Thiruvarur from February 14.
Similarly, Bilaspur-Tirunelveli Express (12787/ 12788) will stop at Coimbatore from March 11,
while Mumbai CST-Thiruvananthampuram Express (train No: 16331/16332), Chennai Central-Alapuzha Express (train No. 16041/16042),
Chennai Central-Mangalore Express (train No: 12685/12686) and
Mangalore-Puducherry Express (train no: 16043/16044) will stop at Coimbatore from July 1.
