Propagate government's achievements: Anbazhagan

CUDDALORE:

Despite inflation, the Tamil Nadu government has created a situation where there is no place for poverty in the State, according to Finance Minister K. Anbazhagan.

He was speaking in a meeting held at Kurinjipadi on Saturday to highlight the achievements of the government. Acknowledging the fact that prices of commodities had gone up, Mr. Anbazhagan said that by taking judicious steps, the government had ensured that nobody was wallowing in poverty.

He defined poverty as a condition in which the people would not have adequate food, clothing and shelter. However, these three aspects were taken care of by the government as it was providing rice at Re 1 a kg through fair price shops, free dhotis and saris, and a large number of house site pattas. Mr. Anbazhagan pointed out that the work on conversion of 21 lakh huts into concrete houses had started and three lakh houses were nearing completion.

He called upon the party cadre to launch a door-to-door campaign to impress upon the voters the good works done by the government. Health Minister M.R.K. Panneerselvam, MLA G.Aiyappan, and municipal chairman T. Thangarasu were presaent.
