The Union Government has received proposals for declaration of some roads and State Highways into new National Highways connecting Barmer of Rajasthan and Cuddalore of Tamil Nadu. No proposal from the Government of Gujarat has been received for declaring the road /state highway into new National Highway connecting Sabarkantha district of Gujarat.
The details of the stretches are as follows:-
i. Gaumti–Chauraha-Desuri-Sadri-Ahor-Jalore-Barmer and Barmer(NH-15)–Jalore-Ahor-Sadri-Desuri-Gaumati ka Chauraha-Kankroli-Bhilwara-Mandalgarh.
ii. Cuddalore-Chittoor road.
Expansion of National Highway network is a continuous process and declaration of new National Highway is taken up from time to time depending upon, requirement of connectivity, inter-se priority and availability of funds.
This information was given by the Minister of State of Road Transport and Highways, Shri Jitin Prasada in a written reply in Lok Sabha today.
