Indian Bank today launched variable recurring deposit (RD) scheme for people covered under the financial inclusion plan.
Indian Bank Chairman and Managing Director Mr T M Bhasin launched the new scheme at Maligaimedu in Cuddalore district, a bank statement here said. On the occasion he also distributed loans amounting Rs 51.08 lakh to 46 beneficiaries, it said. He said the bank accords top priority in providing banking and financial services to the poor through its 1,900 branches across the country. Under the financial inclusion plan he said the bank would cover 5,500 villages. Banking services have been provided to all the 1,511 villages with population above 2,000 allotted to the Bank. In Cuddalore district alone, 57 villages with population above 2,000 have been covered, he said.
