CUDDALORE:
Teachers in here sported black badges on Teachers’ Day to protest against a new system, brought in by the district collector a month ago, under which an SMS has to be send to the Collector’s Office before 9.30 am every day by the heads of schools to mark the attendence of the teachers.
After the rule was brought in by collector V Amuthavalli, teachers staged a demonstration on Aug 21 demanding revocation of system. On Monday, 50 per cent of the teachers in the dis trict wore black badges and went to school urging the collector to withdraw the rule.The teachers complained that to follow exact timing, two teachers travelling by a two wheeler to school met with an accident few days back.This month onwards. the same rule has been extended to officials of the health department in the district.
