CUDDALORE:
Sea water entered about 10 fishing hamlets in Cuddalore
late on Monday, the seventh anniversary of the tsunami, creating panic
among the people living there. With formation of low pressure over the
Bay of Bengal, the sea was rough with strong waves. A
cyclone-warning signal has been hoisted at the Cuddalore port. People
in the fishing hamlets such as Devanampattinam, Thazanguda, Singarathope
and Akkaraikori started panicking as the shore was submerged in sea
water entirely. Fishermen who anchored
their boats on the shore started shifting them to safer places. They
also pulled back a few small boats using ropes to prevent them from
being dragged into the sea by the waves.
