CUDDALORE:
Collector P.Seetharaman released the supplementary electoral rolls at his Camp Office here on Friday.
He told presspersons that on the direction of the Election Commission, the rolls had been revised with March 16, 2011 as the cut-off date. Accordingly, a total of 37,271 petitions were received and after field verification, 31,140 names were included in the voters' lists.
As per the revised figures there are 16,76,117 voters,
including 8,52,300 men
and 3,23,812 women and five others,
in the nine Assembly constituencies.
The Collector said that the new created Neyveli constituency has the lowest number of voters, 1,66,077, and Bhuvanaigiri, the highest, 2,07,469.
The Assembly segment-wise voters are as follows:
Thittakudi (Reserve) – 1,75,724 (88,711 men and 87,013 women);
Vriddhachalam – 1,95,839 (1,00,05 men and 95,780 women);
Neyveli – 1,66,077 (85,486 men and 80,591 women)
Panruti – 1,93,886 (97,252 men and 96,634 women).
Cuddalore – 1,81,846 (90,834 men and 91,012 women);
Kurinjipadi – 1,81,881 (93,381men and 88,500 women);
Bhuvanaigiri – 2,07,469 (1,05,864 men and 1,01,605 women);
Chidambaram – 1,91,399 (96,560 men and 94,839 women);
Kattumannarkoil (Reserve) 1,81,996 (94,158 men and 87,838 women).
The rolls have been displayed for public view in the offices of the Revenue Divisional Officer, Municipal Commissioners, taluk offices and the Collectorate. The Collector further said that booth level officers would be handing over booth slips, carrying the name, address and photographs, of the voters at their doorstep on April 4 and 5. Mr. Seetharaman called upon the people to extend cooperation to the officers and if there were any shortcomings such as mis-spelt names or change of format they could convey the message to the helpline set up in the respective taluk offices.
