B Surender Mohan, Director (Mines), Neyveli Lignite Corporation, distributed books worth `2.25 lakh to various government school libraries in and around Neyveli, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) measures.
Head teachers of schools from Vadalur, Karunkuzhi, Kamapuram, Erumbur, Seplanatham, Marungur, Perperiyakuppam (boys and girls School), Venkatampettai, Kizhakuppam and Melakuppam received the books. Mohan said parents and teachers should inculcate in children the habit of reading books. They should also help develop computer skills, he added.
Neyveli Lignite Corporation has been providing various training programmes for self-development, motivation, amongst others, for school students at peripheral villages to improve their abilities under Peripheral Development Scheme (PDS). Neyveli Lignite Corporation has been taking up projects under PDS provided by the district administration, covering villages within a radius of 10 km and with a fund allocation of Rs 2 lakh per annum.
VS Sankaran, general manager (land acquisition), outlined the infrastructural and development facilities provided by Neyveli Lignite Corporation to schools in and around Neyveli. TS Sivasubramanian, general manager (employee development centre), mentioned about various training programmes offered.
