CUDDALORE:
Deivasigamani (40) of Gopalapuram in Khammapuram block made an attempt to immolate himself in front of the Collectorate here on Monday.
When he was about to pour the fuel on himself, the police men who were present at the Collectorate (on account of the hunger strike observed by the opposition parties against the delay in the implementation of the underground drainage project) prevented him from taking the extreme step. It was learnt that there was a long-standing dispute between Mr. Deivasigamani and his uncle over a piece of property. His endeavour to resolve the issue could not succeed and hence, he had decided to attract the attention of the authorities through immolation.
