CUDDALORE:
Municipal Commissioner S. Ilangovan has issued work orders for taking up repair works on roads that were damaged by the recent rain and floods, Collector P. Seetharaman told reporters here.
Works on a total of 31 roads for a distance of 14 km would be taken up at a cost of Rs. 70 lakh. The repair works would begin on January 10. Mr. Seetharaman said that under the Special Roads Scheme, re-topping of roads for a distance of 23.72 km would be taken up at a cost of Rs. 10.41 crore in the first phase, and 25.2 km length of roads at a cost of Rs. 9.99 crore in the second phase.
He underscored the point that work on all these roads would be completed before February 15. By utilising funds sanctioned under the 12th Finance Commission, and, the MP and MLA Local Area Development Funds, roads stretching over a distance of 45 km had already been repaired at a cost of Rs 5.41 crore, Mr. Seetharaman said.
