CUDDALORE:
The Chidambaram sub-court on Tuesday attached the property of the office of Adi Dravidar Special Tashildar for non payment of compensation for land acquired in 1986.
Two persons deployed by the court took away tables, chairs and ceiling fans from the office located on the premises of the Revenue Divisional Officer at Chidambaram. It is stated that through the special tashildar, land measuring 129 cents at Valaiyamadevi in Sethiathope block was acquired in 1986. But, the payment promised was not made to the original owners. Hence, six of them sought legal recourse to claim the money. Though the trial court and subsequently the Madras High Court directed the official to pay compensation, it was not complied with. Since the case was reverted to the trial court, it ordered for attachment of the property.
