Tamil Nadu Governor Surjit Singh Barnala today launched a pilot project on solid waste management in Cuddalore, Pudukottai, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam and Tanjore districts of Indian Red Cross Society.
The scheme was one of the three new projects of Indian Red Cross Society that was launched by Barnala at a function held at Raj Bhavan today, an official release here said. Besides the solid waste management project, he also unveiled the installation of napkin vending machines in select Girls Higher Secondary Schools in Cuddalore, Pudukottai and Tiruvarur districts. The Governor also launched a WatSan manual of Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), the release said. Indian Red Cross Society Secretary General S P Agarwal, IRCS Tamil Nadu Vice-President Harish L Metha were present on the occasion, the release said.
