CUDDALORE:
Contract workers of the Neyveli Lignite Corporation called off their 38-day old strike on Wednesday night following an agreement reached at bilateral talks held in Chennai.
The management had agreed to give an additional wage of Rs.1,560 a month and a minimum bonus of 8.33% plus Rs.1,000. It also promised not to victimise workers who participated in the strike. T. Velmurugan, MLA, who is heading the Joint Action Council of the trade unions, said that the management had agreed to induct 5,000 workers into the NLC Indcoserve by third week of November. He thanked Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi for his support in finding an amicable solution to the issue.
