CUDDALORE:
In the inter-unit sports and games conducted under the aegis of the Neyveli Lignite Corporation Sports Control Board the Mine-II team has bagged the overall championship trophy and the Mine-I team the runner-up cup.
Both the teams were felicitated by NLC Chairman-cum-Managing Director A.R.Ansari at the valedictory function held at the Bharathi Stadium on the NLC campus at Neyveli on Tuesday. A statement from the NLC stated that in the event, spread over three months from November 2010 to January 2011 about 600 employees, both men and women, participated and exhibited their skills in athletics, basketball, chess, cricket, volleyball and so on.
Speaking on the occasion Mr Ansari observed that since sports would contribute to physical and mental fitness more number of employees should participate in such events. He gave away a cash prize of Rs 5,000 to Jestes Anto who exhibited his football juggling skills and prizes to the winners. The yoga demonstration staged by the school students drew applause from the audience. NLC Directors R.Kandasamy (Planning and Projects), K.Sekar (Finance), S.K.Acharya (Personnel), C.Senthamil Selvan, Chief General Manager (Township administration), and R.K.Narayana, Chief Manager, NLC Sports Control Board participated.
