Improving service: Health Minister M.R.K.Panneerselvam inaugurating a dialysis unit at the Cuddalore Government Hospital on Thursday.

Health Minister M.R.K. Panneerselvam has congratulated the Neyveli Lignite Corporation on spending crores of rupees for the development of peripheral areas, in tune with its corporate social responsibility.
He was inaugurating a library and laboratory buildings constructed by the NLC at a cost of Rs. 20 lakh at the Karunguzhi government higher secondary school near here on Wednesday. The NLC had, so far, spent about Rs. 47 lakh on construction of roads, drinking water supply, renovating places of worship and nursery school at Karunguzhi village.
Collector P. Seetharaman, District Revenue Officer S. Natarajan, and NLC General Manager (land acquisition) N.S. Ramalingam were present. Earlier, Mr. Panneerselvam inaugurated a second dialysis unit procured at a cost of Rs 6.5 lakh at the Cuddalore government headquarters hospital. One more unit would be soon opened and with this, six patients could be treated a day on an average.
Primary health centres
The Minister said that during this year, 40 Primary Health Centres would be upgraded and five doctors posted in each of these centres. This was being done to render round- the-clock health services. The Minister also inaugurated an indoor badminton court built at a cost of Rs. 19 lakh and a squash court built at cost of Rs. 17.4 lakh at the Anna Stadium here on Wednesday.
