CUDDALORE:
All the preliminary works have been undertaken to supply free rice through the fair price shops to all the eligible ration cardholders in Cuddalore district from June 1, according to P.Seetharaman, District Collector.
He has directed the officials in charge of the public distribution system to chart out their delivery schedule in such a way that rice stocks would reach the fair price shops before May 31 so the cardholders could lift their entitlements from June 1. After holding a consultative meeting with the officials concerned, the Collector told presspersons that in Cuddalore district there were 6,38,525 ration cards and based on the number of members in the families the quantity of free rice to be supplied would range from 12 kg to 20 kg per family.
However, for the beneficiaries of the Antyodaya scheme 35 kg of free rice would be supplied. The Collector further said that he had appointed zonal officers for overseeing the free rice supply in the respective region.

Vriddhachalam – K.Murugesan, RDO; and
Thittakudi – R.Ganapathi, District Backward Classes Welfare Officer.
