CUDDALORE:
The Tamil Development Department recently conducted various competitions to test the proficiency level of school and college students in Tamil language.
The winners will participate in State-level competitions, which will be held in Chennai.
The winners at the college level are as follows:
Poetry competition – first prize of Rs. 1,000 won by A. Arokyaraj, final year B.A (English) student of St.Joseph's Arts and Science College; essay competition – first prize of Rs. 1,000 bagged by K. Chitra, first year B.A. (English) student of Kandasamy Naidu College for Women, Cuddalore; and, oratorical competition – first prize of Rs. 1,000 won by C. Murugananthan, final year M.A. (Tamil) student of Annamalai University, Chidambaram.
The winners at the school level are as follows:
Poetry competition – first prize of Rs. 1,000 was won by R. Sridevi, Plus-One student of the Nellikuppam Government Girls Higher Secondary School, and, the second prize of Rs. 500 was won by S.Shanmugapriya, Plus-One student of the Thirupadiripuliyur Government Higher Secondary School.
Essay competition –
first prize of Rs. 1,000 was won by A.Sundari, Plus-Two student of the Seplanatham Government Higher Secondary School, and, the second prize of Rs. 500 was won by V.Nirosha, Plus-One student of the Cuddalore Port Government Girls Higher Secondary School.
Oratorical competition –
first prize of Rs. 1,000 was bagged by S.Bharathi, Plus-One student of the Cuddalore Manjakuppam Government Higher Secondary School, and second prize of Rs. 500 was bagged by A.J.Shajika, Plus-One student of the Nellikuppam Government Girls Higher Secondary School. Assistant Director (Tamil Development) K.Aaroon Rashid was present at the prize distribution function.
