Two students share top slot in Cuddalore district In the SSLC public examinations

CUDDALORE: 

          In the SSLC public examinations held in April 2011, R.Ajay of St Joseph's Matriculation Higher Secondary School at Manjakuppam and S.Ranjitha of N.L.C. Girls Higher Secondary Schools at Neyveli have emerged as the top scorers in Cuddalore district.

Both of them have scored 493 out of 500 marks as follows: 

Ajay: 

Tamil – 97, 
English – 99, 
Science – 99,
Mathematics – 99 
and Social Sciences – 99 and 

Ranjitha: 

Tamil – 97, 
English – 97, 
Science – 99, 
Mathematics – 100 
and Social Sciences – 100.

         Ajay, son of fisherman Ramadass at Nethampettai, is in the habit of completing the day's portion regularly. He prefers night time studies because of the comparative quietness all around. Ajay aimed big of achieving State rank but ended up with district rank. But he vows to reach the pinnacle of glory in Plus-Two. He said that Principal Agnel inspired him and the class teachers motivated him to excel in studies.

     Chief Educational Officer C.Amudhavalli told The Hindu that of the total number of 30,862 students who took the examinations 24,334 came out successfully. In the State board stream the pass percentage was 78.85, higher by 3.70 per cent over that of the previous year's 75.15 per cent.

         In the matriculation stream, the pass percentage went up from 92.44 last year to 95.50 now, a rise of 3.06 per cent. 

The top scorers in the State board are: 

first rank shared by R.Ajay (493/500) and S.Rajnitha (493/500); 

second rank shared by P.Nithya (492/500) of St.Annes Mat.HSS, Cuddalore,

and J.Joy Pradip (492/500) of St.Josph's Mat.HSS, Cuddalore, 

and third rank – A.V.Valliammai (491/500) of St.Anne's Mat.HSS, Cuddalore.

The top scorers in the matriculation stream are: 

First rank shared by D.Abinaya (489/500) of Kamaraj Mat.HSS at Chidambaram and 

V.Subasri (489/500) of Krishnasamy Mat.HSS, Cuddalore;

Second rank shared by T.Lavanya (487/500) of New John Dewy Mat.HSS at Panruti and 

S.Priyanka (487/500) of Balavihar Mat.HSS at Panruti; and 

Third rank shared by S.Madhubala (486/500) of St Mary's Mat.HSS and R.Mahesh (486/500) of Jawahar Mat.HSS at Neyveli.

The high achievers in government schools are: 

First rank – K.Johnson (488/500) of Kanni Tamil Nadu Government HSS;

Second rank shared by J.Priyadarsini (487/500) of Chidambaram Govt.HSS and M.Azhagu Surya (487/500) of C.N.Palayam Govt.HSS; and 

Third rank shared by D.Vasu (483/500) of Panruti Govt.HSS and S.Varalakshmi (483/500) of Cuddalore Port Govt.Girls' HSS.
 
             The CEO further said that this year the number of government schools that had obtained cent per cent results had gone up to 12 from last year's three and these are located at Kanni Tamil Nadu, P.Mettukuppam, K.Mettukuppam, Abottaranapuram, Vadalur Pudhu Nagar, Maniam Adur, Pudhukooraipettai, Movur, Aruna Eraiyur, Kattumannarkoil (PRG), Mandarakuppam and Cuddalore (Service Home run by the Social Welfare Department).
