Cuddalore District Collector warns against duplicate entries in electoral rolls

CUDDALORE: 

              District Collector P.Seetharaman has warned that any voter who has registered himself or herself in the electoral rolls in more than one place will be prosecuted as provided under Section 31 of the Representation of People Act 1950.

             While releasing the draft electoral rolls here on Monday, the Collector said that it was an offence for any voter to enrol at more than one place either within the same constituency or in another constituency.

          He further said that following the direction of the Election Commission the draft electoral rolls had been prepared with January 1, 2011 as the eligible date for the new voters and displayed in all taluk offices, municipalities, and designated polling stations.

Special camps

              The Collector said that the last date for receiving applications for inclusion in the electoral rolls is November 9; special camps to be conducted on October 30 (Saturday) and on November 7 (Sunday) and release of the final list on January 5, 2011. Form 6 is meant for the new voters and those who have migrated from one constituency to the other; Form 7 for deletion of names, Form 8 for rectification of errors relating to names, age and photographs, and Form 8 A for those voters who have migrated within the same constituency. The Collector said that bulk applications would not accepted.
