Ensuring safety: Health Minister M.R.K. Panneerselvam with construction workers in Cuddalore on Wednesday.

Health Minister M.R.K. Panneerselvam gave away 1,750 headgear and 1,500 nose covers or protectors to construction workers at an official function held here on Wednesday.
He said that these aids would ensure safety of the workers at construction sites. The nose protectors would guard them against dust while demolishing a structure or mixing construction materials. In the last four years of its existence, the Tamil Nadu Construction Workers' Welfare Board had extended a assistance of about Rs. 1,000 crore to the workers and their families. It included solatium of Rs. 1 lakh for the death of a labourer, educational assistance at the rate of Rs. 46,000 to their wards for the maximum of two wards (Rs 92,000), old age pension, etc.
