CUDDALORE:
District Collector P.Seetharaman gave away certificates and certain implements to be used in construction to a first batch of 30 candidates who successfully completed the masonry training here on Monday.
The Collector said that for the Kalaignar Housing Scheme, under which 21 lakh huts in the State would be converted into concrete houses in the next six years, it had been proposed to train a total of 500 candidates in masonry in the district under the Mahalir Thittam. For the purpose a sum of Rs 40 lakh had been sanctioned at the rate of Rs 8,000 per candidate.
The amount would be spent as follows:
fees for the institution that imparts training – Rs 3,000 a candidate, a cash incentive of Rs 4,500 a candidate, at the rate of Rs 100 a day for 45 days, and, implements to be used in construction worth Rs 500 per candidates. The first batch was trained in the construction skills by M.K.Raman Institute at Valaiyamadevi from August 1 to 22, the Collector added.
