Annamalai University Vice-Chancellor M.Ramanathan flagging off the mini-marathon on the university campus in Chidambaram on Tuesday.

Nine hundred and fifty students, including 300 girls, from Annamalai University participated in a mini-marathon organised here to create awareness of the World Classical Tamil Conference scheduled to be held at Coimbatore in June. 12 km marathon They covered a distance of 12 km in the temple town. Vice-Chancellor M.Ramanathan flagged off the marathon on the university premises. He said that students belonging to various departments had participated in the essay and poetry competitions held in connection with the Tamil conference. Elaborate arrangements were made along the route. An ambulance and two university buses trailed the runners to help those who might get fatigued midway. Prizes distributed At a function later, Dr. Ramanathan gave away cash awards and cups to the winners.
Winners are as follows:
Boys—S.Senthamil Selvan, R.Silambarasan and Vanidasan; Girls – Kalai Kanimozhi, C.Madhavi and N.Sapnam.
