CUDDALORE:
P. Leslie Demello (16) was washed away by the floods in the Vadavar, the feeding channel to the Veeranam tank, at Kattumannarkoil near here on Sunday.The police said Demello of Annai Teresa Nagar in Udayankudi, had gone with his father Paul Sundar to the Vadavar to learn swimming. There was a surge in the water level owing to heavy rain in catchment areas.and the boy was washed away. A group of people rescued Paul, but Demello could not be traced. The latter's body was recovered from the mouth of the Veeranam tank on Monday.
