CUDDALORE:
All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam cadre, led by S. Semmalai, staged a demonstration at the Vadalur bus stand near here on Thursday, criticising “the poor upkeep” of the Kurinjipadi Government Hospital and lack of basic amenities in Kurinjipadi and Vadalur.
The protestors alleged that the Government Hospital at Kurinjipadi did not have adequate healthcare facilities and patients were forced to go elsewhere for treatment of even common ailments. For want of medicines, dog and snake bite victims had to be referred to far away hospitals. This posed hardships to farmers, weavers and the general public. The protestors also said that the health sector was dogged with the problem of fake medicines, thereby, threatening the well-being of patients. The local bodies at Kurinjipadi and Vadalur were adopting discriminatory attitude to AIADMK councillors by not sanctioning adequate funds to their wards, the protestors alleged.
