CUDDALORE:
Following a settlement reached through the Lok Adalat, the Neyveli Lignite Corporation on Friday disbursed an additional compensation of Rs. 2.08 crore to land providers.
NLC Director (Mines) B. Surender Mohan gave away the cheques to 117 land owners who had given 62 acres of land in Kangaikondan area to the NLC. A statement from the NLC said that so far 10,500 cases seeking additional compensation, over and above fixed by the government, were cleared by the Lok Adalat and a sum of Rs. 100 crore was disbursed. The compensation fixed was as follows: Rs. 6 lakh for an acre of irrigated land, Rs. 5 lakh for an acre of rainfed areas and Rs. 50,000 for a cent of house sites acquired for the sake of the NLC.
