Collector P. Seetharaman has said that Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi had ordered utilisation of a portion of MLA Local Area Development Funds for support to differently abled persons.
From MLA funds
Accordingly, it has been proposed to tap a total of Rs. 45 lakh from the local area development funds of nine MLAs in the district, at the rate of Rs. 5 lakh each. Mr. Seetharaman was speaking at a function organised here to give away 16 electric motorcycles, each costing Rs. 35,000, to 13 differently abled students and three employed persons. He also gave away Rs. 20,000 each to five persons who had married differently abled persons and Rs. 25,000 each to two students for joining engineering courses..
