CUDDALORE:
Pattali Makkal Katchi MLA T.Velmurugan and the members of the Pattali Oppantha Thozhilar Sangham ended their hunger strike on the premises of the Neyveli Lignite Corporation at Neyveli on Thursday.
They called off their agitation following the promise given by the NLC management that within 15 days of the settlement of the wage revision talks with the recognised trade unions of the regular employees, the issues relating to the contract workmen would be taken up. Heavy security was deployed at the venue of fasting. The NLC sources said that the management had honoured many provisions of the tripartite agreement reached in New Delhi on June 16, 2008. As for the absorption of the contract workers in the NLC Indcoserve was concerned a special leave petition was pending in the Supreme Court.
