CUDDALORE:
In the Lok Adalat session held at Neyveli Lignite Corporation on Saturday, an additional compensation of Rs. 6.09 crore was disbursed to those who had provided land to the NLC.
Presiding over the Lok Adalat, Judge K.N. Batcha said that the NLC had acquired the land for mining lignite for electricity generation and hence, they could be proud of the fact that they had contributed their share for the overall good of society. Rs. 6 lakh per acre NLC Chairman-cum-Managing Director A.R. Ansari said that in appreciation of their gesture, the NLC was providing basic amenities to people who had given away their land. The compensation formula was as follows: for irrigated land – Rs. 6 lakh per acre, rain-fed land – Rs. 5 lakh per acre and for house site – Rs. 50,000. In all, 279 land-owners who had given a total of 150 acres in Periyakurichi, Uyyakondaravi, Gangaikondan, Kottagam and Seplanatham were given additional compensation.
