Mixed response from schools to closure call

CUDDALORE: 

             There was mixed response among matriculation schools in Cuddalore and Villupuram to the closure call given by the Tamil Nadu Nursery, Primary, Matriculation and the Higher Secondary Schools' Association on Friday.

 Chief Educational Officer (Cuddalore) S.Amuthavalli said 

                       That of 115 matriculation schools in the district, only seven did not function on Friday. As quarterly examinations were going on, there was full attendance in all schools that remained open on Friday. Chief Educational Officer (Villupuram) P. Kuppusamy said that over 50 per cent of matriculation schools in Villupuram district observed a token strike on Friday. Of the total number of 107 matriculation schools in the district, 58 schools participated in the strike. When asked about the action contemplated against the schools that went on strike defying the government direction, the CEOs said that it was up to the Director of Matriculation Schools and the Inspector of Matriculation Schools to decide.
