K. Sivaranjani of Government Girls' Higher Secondary School at Vriddhachalam has emerged district topper (490/500) in the Secondary School Leaving Certificate examinations held in March/April.
Chief Educational Officer C. Amudhavalli congratulated Sivaranjani at her office on Wednesday. A municipal school and two government schools are among seven schools in the district which achieved cent per cent results. The schools that have registered all-pass are Municipal High School at Chidambaram, Government Higher Secondary Schools at Kanni Tamil Nadu and P. Mettukuppam, P.R.G.Higher Secondary School at Kattumannarkoil, St.Agnes High School at Veerareddykuppam, O.P.R.High School at Tholudur and Kasturi Ammal High School at Nattarmangalam.
State board toppers
Toppers in the State board examinations are
K. Sivaranjani (490), S. Manoj Kumar of St. Joseph HSS at Manjakuppam, Cuddalore (489), and P.Yashini of St.Anne's Girls HSS, Cuddalore (488).
Government school students who figured in the merit list are M. Akila (484) and R. Divya (483) of Govt. Girls' HSS at Chidambaram and A. Priya of Govt. Girls' HSS at Vriddhachalam (483). Top rankers from aided schools are S. Manoj Kumar of St. Joseph's HSS at Manjakuppam (489), P. Yashini of St. Anne's HSS at Cuddalore (488), and A. Sujana Banu of St. Anne's HSS at Cuddalore (487).
Matriculation Toppers in the matriculation stream are S.A. Sajitha Banu of St. Mary's Mat.HSS at Cuddalore (488), M. Arthi of Jawahar Mat.HSS at Neyveli (485), and, M.Nandini of Nirmala Mat.HSS at Chidambaram (483).
The CEO said that this year,
the State board schools achieved a pass percentage of 75.15 which was 4 per cent higher than that last year. However, in the matriculation stream, the pass percentage was 92.44 against 94.45 the previous year. She attributed the good performance of government schools to training imparted to teachers in August-September 2009 on handling subjects and motivating students.
