Children come out of a school in Cuddalore on Wednesday.

It was a reluctant bunch of students, particularly those belonging to kindergarten sections, that returned to schools that reopened on Wednesday after a prolonged summer vacation.
A classroom full of UKG students in a private school in Cuddalore revealed the various facets of the students and parents. The parents tried their best to coax their wards to get into the classrooms. Though the students were enthusiastic about new uniforms, shoes and ties, they were reluctant to carry the school bags, lunch boxes and water bottles. After a great deal of persuasion, some stepped into the classrooms with reassurance from the teachers that they would take proper care of the children.
While some students started making friends, others kept a morose face thinking of getting back home sooner rather than later. Some of them kept a brave face, keeping the tears under control. Soon after the bell rang after the first session, it was a happy reunion for the students and parents.
