CUDDALORE:
A compensation of Rs. 1 lakh was given to Razia, whose husband Malik Basha died recently in a fire accident in Malaysia. Collector R. Palanisamy gave away the compensation at a grievance day session here on Monday.
He disbursed financial assistance of Rs. 25,000 each to two meritorious students belonging to economically weaker sections from Panamalaipettai and Thirukkoilur for pursuing higher studies. The amount was sanctioned from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund, he said. Mr. Palanisamy also extended financial assistance to two widows. He said that because of the jama bandhi session that lasted about a month, the grievance day session was held after a gap of four weeks. He received over 400 applications on the occasion and urged the officials to take action within three weeks.
